That’s Hot: Copenhagen Street Style
These adorable Scandi girls are making bright pastels chic. Vibrant lavender, spring green, egg yellow, and blush should all be in your palette. Essentially, these girls are wearing minimalist, classic outfits in brave new colors! The shapes will keep you in your comfort zone, but these happy hues will give you just enough stretch to look fashion-forward.
You can also channel Scandinavian style by clashing occasions. Danish girls are to thank for the trend of wearing sneakers with a suit! Pair accessories that are a little wrong with your outfit to make your look so right. The Swedes live by the word “lagom” which basically means “just enough.” It’s this principle that guides the idea of being out there, unique, and fashion-forward, but not enough to alienate those around you. Try wearing a bucket hat to a formal event, Teva sandals with an angelic sundress, or strappy heels with a T-shirt and jeans! Stay on top of the trends by following Scandinavian brands like Ganni, Stine Goya, Acne Studios, Cecilie Bahnsen, COS, and Monki.
Below I’ve chosen outfits by some of my favorite Scandinavian influencers, and I’ve posted links so you can shop for a similar look! Of course if you really want to be a Scandi girl you’ll check secondhand shops and Depop before you buy brand new; Scandinavia is leading the world in sustainability in fashion!
1) Pajamas as Outerwear
You may not have ever thought of wearing your pajamas outdoors, let alone looking the height of chic in them, but these Instagram girls are proving it’s possible, and so cute too! Choose a satiny pajama set with a fun bold pattern, and pair with some serious sneakers or heels, and a chic pulled-back hairdo. You could even throw a sweater-vest or a blazer over top!
Big frilly collars are in, and they look their best underneath a super cute sweater or dress! Seriously, the bigger and frillier the better. These are easiest to find in a vintage store!

3) Occasion Clashing
Pernille Rosenkilde is the queen of the occasion-clashing trend, and you definitely should study her Instagram account before you set out to attempt this one! The key is to pair pieces that shouldn't work, but do, united by colorpalette, pattern, or even just sheer audacity and dedication. Make it work by keeping one part of your outfit quite visually plain, just a single color, and another part patterned or more detailed. Add cool sneakers and you're set to go!
Hopefully this has given you some inspiration to pursue Danish-Girl Chic! These trends have been big for a little while now, and will only continue to explode as Scandinavia paves the way for a new sustainable future for fashion. Remember, these links are only jumping off points, but you can find so many unique solutions for similar pieces at your local vintage or consignment shop!
